BACHMANN MODELS DUE SOON...

BACHMANN CLASS 414 2-HAPs

(ARRIVING THIS MONTH)

As pioneers of Southern third-rail EMUs in OO, Bachmann's new 2-HAP (Class 414) releases comprise a DMBS and DTCL, featuring finely detailed moulded bodies with separately fitted parts. Handrails, filler pipes, wipers, whistles, bumpers and guard’s periscopes all feature, as do truss frames, brake gear and auxiliary equipment. Flush glazing reveals detailed seating and illuminated interiors, plus a detailed driver’s cab.

Conductive close-couplings link the cars; NEM pockets allow multiple sets to run together. All wheelsets collect power, supported by capacitors to prevent light flicker. A single 21-pin decoder operates each unit on DCC, while sound-fitted versions include an ESU decoder providing authentic audio on DCC or analogue.

BACHMANN 35T PAV BULK GRAIN WAGONS

(ARRIVING THIS MONTH)

These 35T grain hopper wagons, built in the late 1960s for Associated British Maltsters and Scottish Malt Distillers, moved grain from England to Scottish whisky distilleries. Their four-wheel design increased payload over earlier types. Early wagons carried advertising boards, later removed in favour of plain brown, with some later repainted in green/grey ‘Grainflow’ livery. A few were later used on alumina traffic in Scotland before withdrawal by the late 20th century.

BACHMANN JGA BOGIE HOPPERS

(ARRIVING THIS MONTH)

The JGA bogie hoppers, built in Slovakia in the mid-1990s for Buxton Lime Industries and Tilcon, worked mainly from Tunstead Quarry near Buxton, transporting lime products across the UK. Featuring large hoppers with three pairs of bottom-discharge doors, the wagons remain in limited use today. Bachmann’s OO model features a finely moulded bodyshell with distinctive sloping, ribbed ends. Separate discharge doors sit below the solebar, with concealed metal weights over each bogie for smooth running. The bogies include metal wheelsets, detailed springs and suspension, plus NEM coupling pockets.

BACHMANN LMS 20T BRAKE VANS

(ARRIVING THIS MONTH)

Bachmann’s new 'OO' model of the LMS 20T brake van represents the 2,774 vehicles built between 1935 and 1950 by the LMS and later BR. A comprehensive tooling suite allows accurate versions from early service through to late departmental use. Models feature extensive detail, including separate metal handrails, detailed brake gear and a modelled cabin interior. Blackened metal wheelsets and NEM pockets provide smooth running and easy coupling.

BACHMANN Mk. 2F COACHES

(ARRIVING THIS MONTH)

The Mk. 2F was the final BR Mk. 2 design, with air-conditioning, updated interiors, and tinted windows. Built as TSOs, FOs and BSOs, some were later converted to buffet cars or Driving Brake Second Opens.

Bachmann’s model captures the Mk. 2F shape with detailed roof fittings, metal handrails, corridor ends, optional ETH gear and buffers. Flush glazing, door detail and working door-interlock lights (on DCC) are included. Underframe and B4 bogie equipment is modelled with metal wheelsets and NEM close-couplings, plus full interior seating.

DAPOL MODELS EN-ROUTE...

SMOKE AND SOUND: NEW CLASS 59s - ETA DEC/JAN

Based on the huge success of the first production run of its 'OO' Class 59s, Dapol's second production run of this fantastic model sees seven liveries released, with DCC ready, DCC sound-fitted and DCC sound & smoke-fitted options. Production samples of these models have been evaluated and passed by the Dapol design team and they are now aboard a ship bound for the UK before Christmas. However, models are unlikely to arrive before the pre-Christmas post cut-off date. We're advising customers to secure their model with a pre-order while there's choice, ahead of the busy Christmas and New Year period.
