New N gauge wagons announced: NER P7 & LNER D12 coal hoppers
Graham Farish has just unveiled an exciting new tooling suite that will thrill N gauge North Eastern modellers depicting all-new NER P7 and LNER D12 hopper wagons!

These distinctive four-wheel mineral wagons represent a pivotal moment in British railway engineering. First introduced by the North Eastern Railway (NER) in 1904, the P7 hoppers were among the first large-capacity coal wagons designed to modernise mineral traffic on Britain’s railways. With their raised sides, wooden bodies, and 20T capacity, the P7 was ideally suited to the heavy coal flows of the North East.

The design quickly proved successful. By 1923, more than 12,000 of these wagons were in service, with many lasting into British Railways days and being rebuilt into the LNER D12 variants. Both versions became a common sight across marshalling yards, docks, and collieries.

Key Features:
All-new N gauge tooling by Graham Farish
Authentic detailing and finely rendered wooden body
Will be available in various pre-Grouping, LNER, BR and BSC liveries
Ideal for recreating working coal trains of the early to mid-20th century
With the 200th anniversary of the Stockton & Darlington Railway being celebrated this year, the release of these wagons is perfectly timed to honour the North East’s industrial legacy.
