First look: decorated samples of Heljan's new TT:120 Class 122s
Heljan has revealed imagery of the first decorated samples to emerge from its factory of the new TT:120 Class 122 DMUs.
Marking a significant milestone for British-outline TT:120 scale, these new models will mark Heljan's entry to TT:120, alongside its forthcoming newly-tooled Class 55 'Deltic' locomotives.
Images show each of the six liveries in their first sample state, and all are subject to revision and minor changes. Heljan is welcoming livery feedback at this early stage, allowing for potential livery minor revisions. You can get a closer look in two weeks time at the National Festival of Railway Modelling, November 22-23 at the NEC, where one of them will be running on 'Camelot' by TMC's Chris Hobbs!

Compact, versatile and widely travelled, these iconic single-car diesel multiple units are perfectly suited to the scale, making them one of the most highly anticipated additions to the developing TT:120 market.
The perfect prototype?
Introduced in 1958, just 20 Class 122 units were built for British Railways, working branch lines, suburban routes and local services across the Western, London Midland and Scottish regions. Their flexibility and modest size enabled them to operate in places where locomotive-hauled workings weren’t practical. Some later saw departmental use, extending the fleet’s active life well into the 1990s.
Their small footprint and go-anywhere nature make the Class 122 particularly well-suited to TT:120 layouts, where space is at a premium. They’re effectively a complete train in one vehicle.
