Bachmann’s EFE Rail brand has announced all-new OO gauge models of the Class 313 and Class 314 EMUs — the first ready-to-run representations of the 'PEP' family in this scale.

EFE’s models include three-car sets with detailed bodies, underframe equipment, working directional lighting, interior illumination, and a high-detail pantograph. Class 313 tooling includes optional air-conditioning pods and third-rail shoegear; 314s omit the latter as per prototype. The centre car contains a coreless motor, die-cast chassis, Plux22 DCC socket, and a speaker, with conductive couplings to distribute power and light control.

Models are expected Q1 2026 - pre-order yours, here.

The prototype Class 313s, introduced in 1976–77, were the first dual-voltage EMUs, operating on AC overhead and DC third-rail. They served on Great Northern routes, later spreading across London and the South, with notable units preserved or repurposed.

The Class 314s, built shortly after, were AC-only units used extensively in Scotland on the Argyle Line and surrounding routes until retirement in 2019. Discover the full range here.
